A meeting of Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, UCPN (Maoist), Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) and Madhesi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) held at Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar decided to approve the amendment bill.
The meet has entrusted a three-member taskforce including Minister for Law Agni Kharel to change use of words in the bill.
The taskforce is holding meet to that effect, according to UML Chief Whip Bhanubhakta Dhakal.
The erstwhile government had registered the bill to amend Articles 42, 84 and 246 of the new constitution in a bid to address the demands of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).
The front, however, has been protesting the bill saying that it won’t the demands of Madhes.
As many as 24 amendment proposals have been registered over the Constitution Amendment Bill.
