BHAIRAWA, Nov 6: Former king Gyanandra Shah has said that the country should be run under a definite system and in a decisive fashion.

The former monarch, who arrived in Nawalparashi to attend a Maha Yagya religious ceremony at Gopalpur of Harpur VDC, said that a state cannot function well in the absence of a robust system and far-sighted vision.[break]

“Everyone should be vigilant against short-sighted policies and systems,” said Shah, indirectly expressing dissatisfaction with the present political scenario.

In a four-minute speech, Shah stated that a definite and far-sighted system has not been established to promote the national interest.

He further said that the onus of preserving the Hindu religion in the county falls on every citizen.

“Saving our religion and uniting for the development of the country is a tradition among Nepali people. Let this tradition prevail!” he said.

The program was organized by the Indian chapter of the World Hindu Federation.

Indian Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur, Adhityanath Yogi, also addressed the function.

Stating that Nepal´s sovereignty and integrity depended on Hinduism and monarchy, Yogi said that he was ready to extend any support to establish a Hindu state and monarchy in Nepal. Various activists of different Hindu organizations chanted slogans for the reinstatement of monarchy and a Hindu state in Nepal.
