SINDHULI, May 5: The polling officers and assistant polling officers to be deployed in the local level elections have been instructed to conduct the elections in a free and fair manner.

Addressing a program organized to provide orientation to polling officers and assistant polling officers to be deployed in the district, Chief Election Officer Dhruba Prasad Sapkota said that the election staff should not favor any candidate and that an atmosphere of trust should be created in all the election centers.

“The ones who commit mistakes shall not be forgiven,” Sapkota said. He said that there would be challenges on every step during the election process and the staff should overcome those challenges.

Also speaking on the occasion, Chief District Officer Ramesh Neupane said no one would help the polling staff if they made mistakes while conducting the election. Urging them to remain cautious, CDO Neupane said that they have taken full responsibility of ensuring security but the responsibility to hold fair elections lies with the polling staff.

The polling officers and assistant polling officers to be deployed in 268 polling stations in the district will be trained in three phases.
