Doctors, health workers continue protest in Patan Hospital

LALITPUR, Nov. 4: Doctors and health workers in the Patan Hospital have continued their protest at the hospital premises demanding that Dr. Sangina



Bhandari, Vice-chancellor, and Dr. Soumya Bhattacharya, Rector of the Patan Health Science Academy should resign from their posts.[break]



The doctors and health workers had been demonstrating at the hospital premises since last Thursday. The agitating staffs have also announced fresh rounds of protest programmes effective from Monday, it is learnt.



The health workers also picketed the hospital premises, demonstrated chanting different slogans from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, on Sunday as well.



Meanwhile, the All Nepal Women Association (Unified) issued a press statement and opposed the agitation.



The statement reads that the activities in the name of protest have drawn the attention of the Association that the academy had got women appointed in the senior posts for the first time, but the protestors were obstructing them from working by utilizing their skills just because they are women.



The association demanded that the anti-women activities in the hospital should be ended immediately and the environment of working without any hindrance to the duo, Dr. Bhandari and Dr. Bhattacharya.
