Dahal's assailant sent to judicial custody

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: Padam Kunwar who slapped UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal in public has been discharged from hospital and sent to a seven-day judicial custody. He was produced before the District Administration Office today. Police is planning to file a public offense case against Kunwar.



Kunwar was severely beaten by the Maoist cadres after he slapped Dahal in a tea reception hosted by the Maoist party at Exhibition Road on Friday. [break]He was receiving treatment at Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj.



The Chief District Officer (CDO) can issue a 35-day detention in public offense cases.
