Courts sends several accused into judicial custody

Petrol-pump cheating scandal
KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Kathmandu and Lalitpur district courts have sent two government officials as well as some petrol pump owners and technicians into judicial custody on the charge of their involvement in black market and cheating consumers through meter tampering.

Kathmandu District Court Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal has sent Nepal Oil Corporation Thankot depot chief Rabin Kumar Sharma, Petroleum Dealers Association's Secretary Hem Bikram Baral and proprietor of Crystal Fuel Suppliers Bishnu Bahadur Khadka into judicial custody and ordered release of Kalyan Raj Khadka, the manager of the Crystal Fuel, on a bail of Rs 40,000.
 

Meanwhile, Lalitpur District Court Judge Gayatri Prasad Regmi has sent all the defendants including Ram Aadhar Sah, the former director general of the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Meteorology, into judicial custody. Police had filed the case in Lalitpur District Court against Shiva Prasad Timalsina, Ayub Aalam, Shekh Istihaj, Mohmmad Abbas, Hamid Husain, Janardan Phuyal, Yunus Pradhan, Gopal Maharjan and Shailendra Nath Bade Shrestha along with Sah.

Earlier, Bhaktapur District Court had sent petrol pump owner Punyaram Bakhade into judicial custody in a similar case.
