Closed session of 13th NC convention gets underway

KATHMANDU, March 4: The closed-door session of the Nepali Congress (NC) 13th General Convention got underway at Bhritkutimandap on Friday afternoon.

Acting NC President Ram Chandra Poudel is scheduled to present the party's policies and programs in the session. Also, the general secretary and treasurer of the party will present their reports.

The organizing committee has scheduled the closed-door session for Friday and Saturday, and commencement of voting to elect the new Central Working Comittee (CWC) and office bearers on Sunday (March 6).

A total of 3188 party representatives from across the country are taking part in the NC jamboree. The four-day mega event will conclude on Sunday after formulating the party's policies and electing a new leadership for the next four years.

The convention was inaugurated amidst a gathering of thousands of party members, top leaders of various political parties and international representatives, at Tundikhel Khulamanch in Kathmandu, Thursday.

Leaders mainly from the three panels led by Acting President Ram Chandra Paudel, former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and party General Secretary Krishna Prasad Situala have already announced their candidates from their respective groups.
