The event, which is being co-organized by Tamrakar Samaj, will be played at Tamrakar Society in Jawalakhel. The five-day event will be played in league-cum-knockout format under the Swiss league. More than 80 players are expected to participate in the event, informed organizers amidst a press conference in the capital on Saturday.The expected cost of the event is Rs 1.45 million and the winner will walk home with a purse of Rs 172,900 which is equal to the price of a Yamaha YBR motorbike. The top four finishers of the super league will compete in the super knockout round. The second and the third place finishers will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively. The fourth place finisher will get Rs 25,000.
District Saving and Credit Cooperative Association President Ram Sharan Ghimire said that the main reason for organizing the tournament was the cooperatives' concerns toward the community. "We are organizing the intellectual game like chess with a view to expend it acorss the country," he said.
Players securing up to 15th positions will be give cash prize. The women's winner will get Rs 10,000 and runner-up Rs 8,000.
