Models walking on the ramp are common. However watching cancer patients as models confidently walk on the ramp is a rare sight. Thanks to Nepal Cancer Hospital and research center, and Nepal Cancer Support Group for organizing such a unique event. The ramp walk was titled ‘Sudipta Cancer Survivors Ramp Show’, where people cured from cancer participated. The show was held at the premises of Heritage Garden, Sanepa on Friday. 24 people of different age participated in the show.
Different dignitaries including Veteran comedian duo of Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya, ambassador of Australia to Nepal Peter Budd, Miss Nepal 2018 Shrinkhala Khatiwada were present at the show.

Dr Sudip Shrestha, Director of the hospital said that the show was organized to eliminate cancer related stigmas ofour society. “The show will make people aware that treatment of cancer is also possible in Nepal,” he added.
Director Shrestha stated that stigmas like ‘cancer is a mortal disease’ makes treatment difficult. “Even today, people who are diagnosed with cancer feel difficult to speak up. Likewise, there are no regular health checkups practice in the country,” Shrestha informed.
People not coming up and speaking about the disease have fueled the fear for the disease. The Cancer Hospital informed that people diagnosed with cancer tend to quit their jobs and to stop interacting with people. The hospital further claimed that almost all types of cancer can be treated in Nepal.
