KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Foreign Minister Arzu Rana called Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi regarding the death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal at KIIT University in Odisha, India. She urged him to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident and take legal action against those responsible.
Minister Deuba expressed concern for the safety of Nepali students studying there and called for measures to ensure a secure environment for their education.

She also urged the Odisha government to take action to permanently remove the teacher and staff who had abused the Nepali student, following their dismissal by the college.
Chief Minister Majhi confirmed that authorities had formed a high-level investigation committee and emphasized that they were taking the incident very seriously and would deliver justice.
She assured that the Odisha government remains committed to taking action against the guilty parties and ensuring the safety of Nepali students, while providing all necessary support.
The Nepali Embassy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Odisha government, the university administration, and Indian security officials are coordinating in response to the incident.
