Chief of Army Staff Open Marathon-2081 concludes successfully

The 10th edition of the Chief of Army Staff Open Marathon-2081 concluded on Saturday, marking the occasion of Maha Shivaratri and the 262nd anniversary of the establishment of the Nepali Army.

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: The 10th edition of the Chief of Army Staff Open Marathon-2081 concluded on Saturday, marking the occasion of Maha Shivaratri and the 262nd anniversary of the establishment of the Nepali Army. The event enjoyed participation in several categories, including a 42.19 km Open Marathon for men, 21 km Half Marathon (men/women), 10 km race (boys and girls), 10 km race for military officers and assistants, 5 km race (boys and girls), and a 5 km walkathon.


In the highlight of the event, Khadga Bahadur Khadka of the Nepali Army secured first place in the 42.19 km Open Marathon, completing the race in 2 hours 17 minutes and 20 seconds. In the 21 km Half Marathon (Men), Mukesh Bahadur Pal of the Nepali Army finished in 1 hour 4 minutes and 41 seconds, while Santoshi Shrestha won the 21 km Half Marathon (Women) with a time of 1 hour 17 minutes and 4 seconds.

The winners across various categories were honored with prizes and certificates by the honorable Minister of Defense, Manbir Rai, Chief of Army Staff-General Ashok Raj Sigdel, former Chiefs of Army Staff, President of the Nepali Army Wives Association Nita Kshetri Sigdel, senior generals, and officials from Kathmandu Metropolitan City and MAW Rides Pvt Ltd.


The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of serving and retired senior officers, members of the Military Wives Association, officials from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, representatives from various government bodies, officials from the National Sports Council, sports coaches, military assistants, journalists and the general public.
