Nepal Bodybuilding Association Vice President Rabindra Shrestha is the leader of the team and Shankhar Man Udas is the coach. International judge Pushpa Shrestha also left for Guangzhou to participate a judge in the championship.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Yubara Lama among others bade farewell to the team amidst a function on Thursday.
Shyam Shrestha
Shrestha aged 40 will compete in the 65 kg category. Shrestha was crowned Mr Nepal title in 2005. Since 2005 he has secured the first position in all the national championships under his weight category held in Nepal.
Shrestha is the bronze medalist of the Second World Bodybuilding Championship held in Banaras, India in 2010. Shrestha, who made his international debut from the 32nd Asian Bodybuilding Championship in 1996 is also the gold medalist of the Seventh South Asian Bodybuilding Championship held in Kathmandu.
Shrestha also has the experience of competing at the 44th and 45th edition of the Asian Bodybuilding Championship.
Shrestha is optimistic about a good show in the event. "I have been in training since the Sixth National Games held some seven months ago in the Far-western Region," said Shrestha, adding, "I will try to amend my previous mistakes and put up a better show."
Sachit Pradhan
Thirty-seven-year old Pradhan has been in bodybuilding for more than one-and-a-half decade. Pradhan made his debut during the First South Asian Bodybuilding Championship in 1999 in India and clinched bronze. Pradhan was the gold medalist of the second and the seventh edition of South Asian Bodybuilding Championship held in 2000 and 2010 respectively. "Though I could not compete in the Sixth National Games due to illness I have international experience," said Pradhan who has been training for the event for the last two months. "I will try to improve previous weaknesses."
Sujan Lama
This is the second international participation of 27-year-old Lama who made his debut from the previous edition of Asian Bodybuilding Championship held in Bangkok, Thailand. Lama became the first bodybuilder from Nepal to make it into the final round of Asian Bodybuilding. He secured fifth position in the event. Lama who did not compete in the Sixth National Games said training in the current edition was better than the previous editions. "I hope to get better results in the current edition as I got a better training this time. I will try to amend the mistakes that I made in the previous edition."
