LONDON, Sept 5: Steven Smith scored 70 and Mitch Marsh smashed 64 off 31 balls late in the innings to help Australia reach 309-7 in the second one-day international against England at Lord's on Saturday.

David Warner retired hurt after the second ball of the innings when he was struck on the thumb by a rising delivery from Steven Finn.

Smith and George Bailey (54) put on 99 for the second wicket, before the middle order contributed through Glenn Maxwell (49) and Shane Watson (39).

Marsh was dismissed off the final ball of the innings, having hit seven fours and three sixes.

A wet outfield delayed the start by an hour, reducing the match to 49 overs per side.

Australia leads the five-match series 1-0 after winning the first ODI by 59 runs.
