KATHMANDU, July 8: Anisha Lama Syangtan, who won silver medal at the Asian Shin Kyokusin Karate Championship, was felicitated with cash prize for her achievement amid a function held in the capital on Sunday. She received a total cash prize of Rs 35,500 from various organizations. Syangtan had bagged silver medal following her defeat to a Kazakh player in the final of women´s 65 kg category during the championship held in Astana, Kazakhstan from June 21-25. Syangtan had defeated a Malaysian player in the quarterfinals and a Russian player in the semifinals. With the result, Syangtan also qualified for the World Championship to be held in Lithuania in 2013.
Sports science seminar begins
KATHMANDU, July 8: A two-day seminar on sports science kicked off on Sunday at the Satdobato Sports Complex in Lalitpur. The seminar will be attended by about 180 technical staffers of the National Sports Council Training Department, Nepal Sports Foundation and District Sports Development Committees of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. During the seminar, sports nutritionist Sunil Rajbanshi will present his paper on sports nutrition and sports science while Achyut Lamichhane will present a paper on bio mechanics and sports psychology.
