Absconding NEA Assistant Manager Upreti arrested in illegal property case

KATHMANDU, March 24: Absconding assistant manager of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Dhruba Kumar Upreti has been arrested after being convicted of illegal property acquisition by the Supreme Court (SC).


In a case filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the SC ruled on November 27 that he should be fined Rs 25.51 million and sentenced to six months in prison.

Since then, he had been on the run, but the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested him on Sunday from Bansthali, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16.


According to CIB, he was presented at the Kathmandu District Court on Monday for the execution of the verdict, and he was subsequently sent to Dillibazar Jail.
