When a team of media persons reached to Kartike, Sindhupalchwok last week, people were still struggling to get a piece of blanket.
"With winter already here, we have been reeling under severe cold," 80-year-old Mangale Dong of Gomba-1 said. The octogenarian had hiked for nearly three hours to Kartike from his home place to get a piece of blanket and Rs 5,000 distributed by Lutheran World Federation-Nepal.
"The government has not reached to us. Some international agencies have provided us few sacks of rice and pulses," he added, "This is all we have got so far."
The government's failure to address the woes of the victims has left hundred tattered shivering in the cold. "I came with my three-year-old baby for this Rs 5,000," Kamala Nepali (35) of Baramche-3 added, "My sewing machine has been broken when the house collapsed."
Quake victims left to shiver under temporary tents

The locals have not been able begin the rebuild after they were told that the government would not pay the compensation to the victims who build their house themselves. "I heard the government would not pay compensation to those who build their house themselves," Rudra Tamang (62) of Kartike said.
After suffering from lack of food, the victims are shivering with the cold as the government has turned the blind eyes to their woes. "We have been sleeping under a tent for last six months. I have three-year-old boy to take care of," Rani Maya (28) said.
All the victims wanted the government to take the immediate action to address their woes. The government should at least say either we should build our house ourselves or provide us the compensation not leave us shivering here, Rani Maya added.
LWF had distributed Rs 5000 to 358 families per family of Pangtang and two blankets and a tarpaulin each family to 300 families of Gumba of Sindhupalchwok district.
