5,000 tons of sugar to be imported for festivals

KATHMANDU, Sept. 21: The government has decided to import 5,000 tons of sugar from India to cater to the overarching demand of costumers in the advent of festive season.



In this connection, the government has directed the National Trading Corporation to ensure smooth supply of daily essential goods such as sugar during the upcoming festivals. [break]



A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday had decided to provide loan of Rs. 50 million as per the demand of the Corporation so as to smoothen the supply of consumptive goods.



According to the Managing Director of the NTC Pramila Yadav, the corporation has decided to bring in huge quantity of sugar to address growing demand especially during the festive season.
