DHANGADI, Dec 4: Police has made public four people who were found possessing counterfeit Nepalese currency, on Thursday. Ram Prasad Chaudhary, 22, of Baan VDC-7 in Dhangadi Municipality was arrested with 103 fake Nepali currencies of Rs 1,000 denomination.
The other arrested have been identified as Ramesh Chaudhary, 23, of Marusiya VDC-4, Suresh Chaudhary, 21, of Baghmara of Tikapur VDC-4 of Kailali and Gobinda Chaudhary, 23, of Hardahani VDC-5 of Kailali.
Dodging Fake News on Social Media
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the fake money were printed in India and the printers were Indians.
Superintendent of Police at Kailali District Police Office, Rajendra Bista, believes the fake Nepalese currencies were printed in India. "A fake Nepali currency of Rs 1,000 is very hard to distinguish," said Bista.
"We will dig out more details about the people involved in this racket of counterfeit currency soon," said Bista. According to experts, a flood of fake currency will be a burden on already declining Nepalese economy.
