The mobile phones of all the cops have been seized to get call records, he added.[break]
“If found guilty, they will face punishment as per the laws,” Bidari added. Important information has been collected about the armed robbers who are at large, and a special team has been mobilized to trace them, Bidari further said.
Family members of 16-year-old Suresh Kumar Sah of Belha-3, who was shot dead by the armed robbers, have refused to take his dead body stating that demands for a high-level probe, compensation, declaration of Sah as a martyr, and suspension of cops have not been met, said Rajendra Sah, a relative of the deceased.
Stating that the local administration cannot be fully relied on, locals have formed a Citizens´ Struggle Committee that has threatened to start from Saturday a district-wide movement, said Sah, who is also a member of the committee.
“We won´t receive the body as long as all our demands are not met,” he said. The committee took out a rally in Siraha bazaar on Friday, chanting strong slogans against the police.
CDO Bidari, however, said that since the local administration is already doing its work, it will not remain a mute spectator if anarchy is created in the name of movement. “Legal action will be taken against those who take the law into their hands and spread anarchy,” he said.
The CDO admitted negligence on the part of police in the incident. “The administration is serious. All cops posted at the police post in the village are in custody. So why the movement?” he questioned.
At midnight Wednesday, armed robbers leisurely looted over half a dozen houses in Belha village-3 of Siraha, located six kilometers from the district headquarters and barely 200 meters from the nearest police post. The gang carried out the robbery for two hours, but the police did not arrive. The police indifference cost Sah´s life.
A cop at Siraha District Police Office said that it has almost been established that the robbery was carried out in connivance of cops posted at Belha Police Post. The cop also said that Assistant Sub-inspector Tamta is guilty.
The robbers fired shots and even exploded bombs, the sound of which was heard by people in Siraha bazaar located six kilometers away. But no one came to help from Belha Police Post located so close to the village, said Shivanath Sah, one of the robbery victims.
