Locals claimed Shambhu Pasman, 18, of Janakpur-15, who was returning home from neighboring India, was beaten to death by the police. [break]

Shatrughan Pasman and Bijaya Sahni, who were accompanying the youth, said the police arrested him for consuming alcohol and took him to Boharwa Police Post.

The youth passed out immediately after a policeman kicked him in the groin. Two policemen then immediately rushed him to Janakpur Zonal Hospital on a motorcycle but he could not be saved.

Police then contacted local FM stations and informed that an unidentified body has been found. Irate locals have staged protest against “police atrocity”.

The District Police Office, however, refuted the allegations and said the youth was arrested on suspicion of drugs trafficking and had suddenly fainted while in police custody. “He was then immediately taken to the hospital for treatment,” claimed Superintendent of Police Dinesh Amatya.

Amatya, however, didn´t answer the questions about the police calling the local FM stations to inform about recovery of an unidentified body.
