NEPSE declines 14.08 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 8.91 billion

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday plunged 14.08 points to close at 2,715.91 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,730 points and rose to the day’s high at 2,745.15 points within the first one hour. The index, however, went downhill and hit the day’s low at 2,707.89 points when the trading time was left for 45 minutes. The market recovered around eight points in the remaining trading time before it closed for the day.

Two groups--‘others’ and hydropower gained 9.27 points and 6.09 points, respectively. Of the 11 losing groups, the development bank shed the largest of 156.87 points, followed by hotels and tourism with a downfall of 124.69 points.  

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 2.49 points. Daily turnover declined to Rs 8.91 billion from Rs 11.87 billion on Monday.

Among the individual companies, 71 were gainers while 162 were registered as losers. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 308.71 million.

Three companies including Corporate Development Bank, Green Development Bank and Sindhu Bikash Bank were the topmost losers. Joshi Hydropower Development Company gained the highest of 9.98 percent of its market value.
