According to the online record, the 10 missing journalists in the Asia-Pacific region come from Australia, Nepal, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. The four Nepali journalists who have been unaccounted for are Milan Nepali, 47, who went missing from Kathmandu; Prakash Singh Thakuri, from Mahendranagar; Chitraman Shrestha, 67, from Sarlahi; and Madan Paudel, 25, from Taplejung.
The other speakers at the program also stressed on the need to find out the whereabouts of the untraced journalists in order to end impunity and bring those responsible to face the law.
National Human Right Commission (NHRC) Member Sudeep Pathak said, “It is possible to trace the status of missing journalist if the government uses its proper channels and pursues accurate information.”
