BIRATNAGAR, May 1: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance (MoF), Bharat Mohan Adhikary, has vowed to announce budget for fiscal year 2011/12 as agreed earlier at any cost.

Talking to journalists in Biratnagar on Sunday, Adhikari said the parliamentary session, which will begin from Monay, will focus on agendas related to budget for the coming fiscal year. “Following the President´s address, the session will completely focus on government´s policy and programs,” said Adhikari.[break]

The Finance Minister said he would begin necessary talks with other political parties to give final shape to the budget. He also bemoaned that government fund allocated for development works was being used to pay remuneration and subsidize fossil fuel.

“We need to trigger agricultural revolution in the country in order to allocate big chunk of government fund on development works,” he added.

“We will be able to significantly reduce import, if we managed to grow agricultural productivity. We are trying to incorporate programs for this in the upcoming budget.”
