RNGC officials including President Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha and captain Tashi Ghale felicitated Shrestha. Similarly, The Everest Hotel has also announced free membership of Gym and Health Club for a year to Shrestha.
Shrestha is only the second Nepali player to win the Surya Nepal Masters after RNGC pro Deepak Thapa Magar won the title in 2007. Shrestha finished ahead of defending champion Abhijit Singh Chadha of India in the playoff after both players finished with a 72-hole total of 18-under 270 at the Gokarna Golf Club on May 11.
Shrestha thanked RNGC for the honor. “I started playing this game as a kid from this club. After 10 years of hardship I achieved my dream of winning the Surya Nepal Masters title,” said Shrestha. “Numerous people including Tashi Ghale have contributed to my success,” he added.
Meanwhile, RNGC President Shrestha was full of praise for Shrestha. RNGC captain Ghale wished for success of Shrestha in future.
