Westerly system grips country, fog likely in provinces

Currently, the weather remains partly cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. In contrast, the remaining hilly and mountainous regions are experiencing mainly fair weather.

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: A partial influence of a western disturbance continues to affect weather conditions across the country, while a low-pressure system that has developed over the southwest Bay of Bengal is also exerting a partial impact, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).



Currently, the weather remains partly cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. In contrast, the remaining hilly and mountainous regions are experiencing mainly fair weather.

The MFD reported that fog and mist have formed across the Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Lumbini provinces, while a few places in the remaining Terai areas are also witnessing foggy conditions.


This afternoon, fog and mist are expected to linger in most parts of the Terai until midday. During the same period, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are likely to see partly cloudy skies, whereas the hilly and mountainous regions will continue to enjoy mostly clear weather.


Tonight, fog is likely to develop at a few locations in the Terai. Meanwhile, the weather across the country’s hilly and mountainous regions is expected to remain mainly clear.
