Westerly winds bring mist and fog

The westerly winds have influenced the weather of the Terai belt and Kathmandu valley. Due to this, mist and fog have been reported in some places of these regions. The authorities have requested people to exercise necessary precautions.

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The westerly winds have influenced the weather of the Terai belt and Kathmandu valley. Due to this, mist and fog have been reported in some places of these regions. The authorities have requested people to exercise necessary precautions.


The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has urged people to take necessary precautions as mist and fog are likely to take over in some places in the Terai and Valley of the country in the morning. This may affect daily life, agriculture, health, transport and air flights.

According to the MFD, the weather is partly to generally cloudy in the Far Western Province and mainly clear in the rest of the country. The weather is expected to remain clear in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces today.


In Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, the division has stated that it is likely to be partly to generally cloudy along the mountainous region in the afternoon. There is a possibility of partial to cloudy sky in the hilly region.


According to the department, furthermore, it is likely to be partly to generally cloudy in the mountainous region in both provinces tonight, with a possibility of light snowfall in some places.
