KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Remittance inflows to Nepal increased by 35.6 percent during the first five months of the current fiscal year, according to data released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Friday.
NRB data show that Rs 870.31 billion was received between mid-July and mid-December of Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26. Of the total inflow, Rs 183.18 billion was remitted in mid-November alone.
Remittances worth Rs 521.63 billion flow into the country
In contrast, remittance growth during the same period last year was limited to 4.7 percent, with Rs 118.79 billion received in mid-November of the previous fiscal year.
The data also show a slight decline in the number of workers taking final labor approval for foreign employment. During the five months, 175,591 individuals obtained final labor approval, while 163,924 workers renewed their labor permits.
In the corresponding period last year, 190,384 workers had taken final labor approval, and 135,425 had renewed their permits, NRB data show.
