Soon after Rayamajhi’s address, the ex-combatants began chanting slogans against Rayamajhi saying the minister’s failed to address their ‘real demands’.
“The government should give/assure us a deadline to address our demands. We will not sit in talks unless our demands are met by the government,” Lenin Bista, chairman of ‘discharged’ combatants, said to Republica.
The ex-combatants who were not verified by the UNMIN, like to call themselves as ‘discharged combatants’, have been demanding removal of ‘disqualified tag’, national felicitation certificate, allowances equivalent to combatants who opt for voluntary retirement and release their colleagues in police custody arrested during their protests, among others.
