UML youth wing to bring 50,000 to picket CA building

KATHMANDU, May 13: Youth Federation Nepal, a wing of ruling CPN-UML, has announced to gather 50,000 youths around the Constituent Assembly (CA) building in New Baneshwar on May 28, the day the extended term of the CA expires.

Chairman of the federation Mahesh Basnet said in a statement issued on Friday that various programs would be held to press the top political leadership to make some concrete progress toward constitution-drafting before deciding to extend the CA term once again. [break]

The federation has planned to hold public gatherings in various towns including Damak, Biratnagar, Gaighat, Janakpur, Hetauda, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Myagdi, Dang, Surkhet, Dadeldhura, Dhangadhi, Humla, Dhading and Rasuwa on May 26.

Similar event will be organized in Kathmandu on May 20.

The organization has planned to bring Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala on a single podium in Kathmandu to speak on constitution-writing, peace process and forging national consensus.

Basnet is close to the Nepal-Oli camp that is rival faction of Prime Minister Khanal within the UML.
