KATHMANDU, Feb 10: In a veiled threat to use force to meet their demands, co-chairperson of the Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday said that millions of people would be forced to picket Singha Durbar and Baluwatar if Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli failed to correct his mistakes.

Addressing a mass gathering organized by his party faction at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, Dahal said that Prime Minister Oli has emerged himself as a murderer of the constitution that was promulgated with a lot of trials and tribulations.

"PM Oli has committed a huge crime by killing the constitution and people have now understood it very well," he said.

Dahal estimated that around 500,000 people took part in the mass gathering organized by his party faction on Wednesday.

Dahal also urged Prime Minister Oli to immediately step down from the post.

"Two ministers in the Oli-led cabinet are now in touch with us and they are likely to join our camp. More leaders in the Oli-led faction are going to join our camp. After seeing all this, Prime Minister Oli should resign from the post immediately," he said.

On a separate note, Dahal said that the Election Commission has not shown a good sign in regard to granting official recognition to their faction of the NCP. He also accused Prime Minister Oli of intimidating the EC officials to forcibly grant official recognition to the faction led by Oli.

"Both the EC and the Supreme Court have come under unwarranted pressure from the prime minister. These are not good signs at all," he said, adding that they have still faith in the constitutional bodies.
