Two arrested for fraudulent job promises in Portugal and Japan

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Police arrested two individuals on Sunday for allegedly deceiving people by promising to send them to Portugal and Japan for overseas employment with the lure of attractive salaries.

According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, police arrested 29-year-old Purna Bahadur Jethara, a resident of Badikedar Rural Municipality-3 in Doti and currently living in Kathmandu Metropolitan-14, and 37-year-old Raj Kumar Lama, a resident of Belkotgadhi Municipality-12 in Nuwakot and currently residing in Nagarjun Municipality-2, Kathmandu.

Based on victims' complaints, Purna Bahadur took Rs 900,000 from three victims, promising to send them to Portugal, while Raj Kumar took Rs 550,000 from one victim, promising to send them to Japan. After the victims reported that the suspects had gone out of contact, the police, assigned by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku, arrested Purna Bahadur from Kathmandu Metropolitan-14 and Raj Kumar from Nagarjun Municipality-2.

The police have sent them to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and necessary action.
