Karma´s husband Furba, a security guard, and his assistant Raji Tamang were arrested following reports that Furba would regularly beat his wife. “We arrested the duo including the deceased´s husband as the body was not in a normal condition,” Inspector at the Metropolitan Police Sector, Kirtipur Gyan Kumar Mahato said.
Police suspected that the body could have been dumped in the septic tank after murder. “The postmortem report will shed light on the ongoing investigation,” a police officer involved in the investigation said.
Police said Furba had lodged a missing complaint only at one in the morning. A police team had reached TU immediately and searched for her. “We found her clothes near the septic tank when we again came at eight in the morning and recovered the body when we opened the tank,” Mahato added.
Karma, 27, and Furba, 37, had married 10 years ago and were living at the TU quarters. Karma´s relatives said the couple´s relation had soured as she had not been able to deliver a baby in 10 years of marriage. The relatives claimed that inebriated Furba would routinely beat her for not delivering a baby.
Karma´s body has been sent to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for autopsy after the Metroplitan Crime Division, Metroplitan Police Circle, Kalimati and Kirtipur Police completed a crime site report.
