DARCHULA, June 12: Four children drowned after falling into a septic tank of Ganesh Binayak High School at Naugad Rural Municipality-4 in Darchula on Tuesday.
According to police, the children who were playing on a heap of soil dumped on the cover of the septic tank, fell after the concrete slab collapsed under their weight. The septic tank is around ten feet deep.
Two persons found dead in septic tank
The deceased children are aged between five and ten years, according to Devadatta Bhatta, in-charge of the local police post. The deceased have been identified as Niruta Thagunna, Anushka Dhami, Sudish Dhami and Unika Thagunna, according to Hikmat Bahadur Bohara, spokesman of district police office, Darchula.
According to the police, they had reached the incident site three hours after the mishap.
