SCBNL, Citizens Bank, Embassy of India in semifinals

KATHMANDU, Oct 28: Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd (SCBNL), Citizens Bank and Embassy of India advanced into the semifinals of the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes, a corporate cricket tournament, on Monday.



Standard Chartered overcame Nabil Bank by five runs in the quarterfinal held at TU Ground, Kirtipur. Put into bat first, Standard Chartered reached 81/2 with unbeaten 28 runs from Sitanshu Pandey and 23 from Subash Sharma. Chasing the formidable target, Nabil managed only 67 runs though it didn’t lose any wicket. Earlier on Monday, Standard Chartered had defeated Sipradi Trading by 38 runs in the pre-quarterfinal match. [break]



Citizens Bank pulled off a three-run win over Kantipur Media Group in another quarterfinal clash. Amit Khanal scored 21 runs and Roshan Malla (19) and Swastik Subedi (14) remained unbeaten as Citizens Bank scored 68/3 after electing to bat first. Kantipur fell four runs short of the target despite Pankaj Koirala’s unbeaten 25 and Bigyan Pandey’s 23 runs.



Citizens had defeated Civil Bank by four wickets to enter the quarterfinals.



Embassy of India beat NIC Asia Bank by four wickets for a place in the last four. NIC Asia reached 65/4 after being invited to bat first. Praveen Regmi scored 28 runs for NIC Asia and Dipesh Pradhan remained unbeaten on 13. Launde BR claimed two wickets. In reply, Vipin Tomar scored an unbeaten 28 runs and Pankaj Singh added 17 as Embassy of India reached the target with one ball to spare. Earlier, the Embassy had defeated Machhapuchchhre Bank by five wickets in the pre-quarterfinal stage.



Meanwhile, NMB Bank has lodged a complaint against Pappu Construction for fielding an ineligible player. Pappu Construction defeated NMB Bank by six wickets in the quarterfinal. A decision on the complaint will be taken before the semifinals begin on Tuesday. The final also takes place on Tuesday.
