KATHMANDU, Sept 21: Chairman of the Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi has said that the government is fully prepared to hold election on the scheduled date of November 19.

Regmi said so during a meeting with CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, who also heads the cross-party High Level Political Committee (HLPC), at the former´s official residence at Baluwatar late evening Friday.[break]

“During the meeting they discussed seeking an active role of the political parties in creating environment conducive to election,” said Regmi´s press coordinator Rajendra Prasad Pandey.

Both of them also agreed to try to include the agitating political parties, including the CPN-Maoist, in the election process. Various political parties allied with Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist have announced to intensify anti-poll campaign as the negotiations with both the government as well as other major political parties ended inconclusively last week.

“Regmi emphasized the need for holding discussions without any delay and urged Khanal to take initiatives for the same,” said Pandey.
