ITAHARI, Sept. 19: A 19-year-old youth was injured in a shooting in Devanaganj Rural Municipality-1, Sunsari, on Saturday evening.
Niraj Yadav, a resident of the area, was shot in the thigh in front of the Laxminarayan Temple in Devanaganj-1. He is receiving treatment at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar, according to rural municipality Chairman Bechan Mehta.
DSP Chandra Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Sunsari, said police had received information about the shooting but that details of the incident were yet to be established.

Police have arrested two people on suspicion of involvement in the shooting. However, they have not disclosed further details. Local eyewitnesses said six other people allegedly involved in the incident were still at large.
The latest shooting comes weeks after a violent clash in Kaptanganj of Devanaganj-3 on July 25, in which three people were killed.
Om Prakash Mehta, Jaya Prakash Mehta and Rabindra Mehta were killed in police firing following a clash between two groups. Om Prakash died on the night of July 25, while Jaya Prakash died during treatment on July 29. Rabindra died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu on August 4.
The Kaptanganj dispute had its roots in a flag-planting incident during the Muharram festival of the Muslim community. A flag was erected in the middle of the local market on June 28. In July, members of the Hindu community erected another flag at the same location during the Bol Bam festival.
The dispute was subsequently brought before the ward chairperson and the rural municipality chairman.
On July 25, the situation escalated into a violent clash between two groups of youths over loud DJ music being played at a temple in Devanaganj-3 by youths preparing to take part in the Bol Bam pilgrimage.
