National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama handed over the national flag to Nepal´s chef de mission Chaturananda Vaidya amidst a function held at the NOC building in Satdobato, Lalitpur. Member Secretary Lama and NOC President Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan also handed over kits to the participating athletes.
Speaking on the occasion, NSC Member Secretary Lama thanked the NOC for its coordination and the concerned sports association for making arrangements to send the athletes to Nanjing.[break]
Lama, who also discussed the existing dispute over NOC´s legitimacy, asked players not to worry about such issues. "These problems are not yours. This is our problem and we will solve it. I urge you to focus on your performance only," he told the players.
Lama also informed that the NSC does not have separate allocation for the Youth Asian Games but that associations can use their annual grants to send athletes to Nanjing.
Earlier, it was reported in the media that Nanjing participation was uncertain due to lack of budget. It is still unclear how the associations managed flight tickets for the athletes and officials.
"We´ll send our athletes at any cost," said Nepal Judo Association President Deepak Harsha Bajracharya.
