Dhungana, Adhikari win Sound TT
KATHMANDU: Shyamlal Dhungana of Lalitpur and Roshani Adhikari of Kathmandu won the men’s and women’s singles titles in the Valley-wide Sound Table Tennis Championship held at Laboratory Higher Secondary School, Kirtipur on Saturday. In the men’s final, Dhungana defeated Kushal Neupane 11-8, 11-5 for gold while Krishna Dahal and Yuvaraj Lama of Kathmandu secured bronze. In the women’s title clash, Adhikari defeated Devi Paudel of Kathmandu 11-9, 15-13. Sabitri Paudel and Sarita Adhikari of Kathmandu finished joint third. Altogether 30 players -- 15 each in boys’ and girls’ category -- had competed in the two-day event organized by Nepal Blind Table Tennis Association.
Maharjan, Shrestha win golds in deaf TT
KATHMANDU: Anil Maharjan of Kathmandu and Sonam Thapa Shrestha of Lalitpur won gold in men’s and women’s singles table tennis in the National Deaf Table Tennis Tournament held on Saturday at the National Table Tennis Center, Lainchaur. Naseeb Khadka and Rima Shrestha finished runner-up in the men’s and women’s section respectively. Altogether 16 players -- eight each in men’s and women’s section -- had competed in the event organized by National Deaf Table Tennis Association.
