Of the total 7,000 votes counted as of now, KC took the lead in the race for the post of president by garnering 3,305 votes while Bijay Kanta Mainali from the progressive panel has received 3,090 votes. KC is taking a lead of 215 votes than Mainali.According to senior Advocate Hari Shankar Niraula, chief of the election committee, all the six candidates from democratic panel are taking lead in the contest of vice-president.
Likewise, Khamba Bahadur Khati of the democratic panel has taken lead over Dinamani Pokharel of the progressive panel in a contest for general secretary. Khati has 3304 votes while Pokharel has 2960 votes so far.
For the position of treasurer, Gyan Ratna Shakya of the democratic panel is running ahead of Hari Bahadur Khadka of the progressive panel. Shakya received 3,112 votes so far while Khadka has garnered only 2951. According to Niraula, the vote count of the Kathmandu Valley and Apex Bar is yet to begin.
The voting to elect the 24th leadership of the NBA had started in all the 33 polling centers across the country on last Saturday.
The election result is likely to come out today as there are only two polling centers remaining for vote counting. Of the total 7,000 votes cast, 6,395 votes have been counted so far.
NBA to stage protest at Judicial Council today
