TAPLEJUNG, March 24: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam has inspected inferno-raved site at the district headquarters Phungling Bazaar on Tuesday.

During the inspection visit Minister Gautam has requested the banks and financial institutes in the districts to provide subsidized loan to the fire victims.

Gautam also assured the fire victims that the government will not leave any stone unturned to provide early relief to the fire victims.

On a different note, Gautam said the Mechi Highway, which was originally planned to be widened up to 15 meters, will have its width under the road standards set by the municipality in view of the loss it might incur on the locals having houses on the roadside.

The inferno wreaked havoc on Phungling Bazaar, destroying over four dozen houses and rendering scores homeless yesterday.

The fire which started at 7 pm Monday was contained only at around 9 am today.
