Lukla airport halted as tire of aircraft deflates

SOLUKHUMBU, April 10: Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla, recognized as one of the busiest airport has been halted since 10 am this morning after a plane got its tire punctured.

The tire of the Simrik Airways aircraft (9 N A E) was deflated while the aircraft was heading towards the parking lot from runway.


Due to the sudden halt many flights have been delayed as this is the peak season for the tourists visiting Lukla.

This is the only airport in the whole Khumbu region.

According to airport Chief Shreehar Bhatta, the technicians from Kathamndu have alredy reached Lukla to remove the aircraft from the runway.
