This is the second win for Kathmandu in Group A formed of three teams. Kathmandu had defeated Himalayan Cricket Academy in its first group match.
After deciding to bat first at the Tundikhel Ground, Great Himalaya was bundled out for 106 runs in 35.2 overs as national star Sharad Vesawkar scored only seven runs facing 11 balls, while Aashish claimed four wickets for Kathmandu.
Pradeep Tandan scored highest 30 runs for Great Himalaya, while Rahul Mishra added 12 runs and Bishalbabu Adhikari scored 11 runs. Pradeep faced 64 balls and hit two fours.
Kathmandu's Aashish bagged four wickets giving away only 17 runs in 8.2 overs, while Shyam Tripathi took three wickets in his seven overs spell giving away 27 runs.
Nandan Yadav, Prittam Thapa and Manish Sahani claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Kathmandu achieved the meager 107 runs target in 22.5 overs at the expenses of four wickets. Aashish scored 30 runs and skipper Mahesh Chhetri added 33 runs. Mahesh smashed seven fours and Aashish hit two boundaries. Sanjay Basnet remained not out on 17 runs.
Now, Kathmandu will play against Baluwatar Cricket Club in the semifinal on Wednesday, while other semifinal will be played between Lord Buddha Cricket Club and Dhangadhi United on Thursday.
