Addressing recently promoted SPs and DSPs at Police Headquarters, IGP Rana concluded that the growing trends have resulted to erosion in professional fraternity.
He said, “Violating chain of command of the police institution to serve other power holders is a hazardous trend. Such tendency will not only harm the police institution but also hamper national progress.” [break]
"I don´t want any compromise on the goals and objective of police as an institution and those found guilty of violating human rights, impunity and corruption will be sacked or punished without delay," he said.
He also emphasized in public-police participation despite logistics and budgetary crunches.
According to the police headquarters, IGP Rana also instructed the promoted police officials to totally focus on security measures for the upcoming CA elections scheduled for November 19.
Ministry of Home Affairs on last Friday had promoted 9 SPs and 11 DSPs under the suggestion of the police headquarters. The police headquarters has been dragged into controversy following the hurried promotions and election oriented transfers "not on the basis of performance."
