Earlier on Saturday, top leaders of the major parties held separate meetings with Mohan Baidya, who is leading the agitating parties´ alliance.
The CPN-Maoist led 33-party alliance had decided to sit for talks with the government after the latter sent an invitation for talks without any preconditions.
But a meeting of the alliance held at CPN-Maoist head office on Friday said that the alliance would sit for talks with the government only after receiving another invitation from the government addressing all the 33 parties in the alliance. The meeting also decided to continue protest programs while holding talks with the government.
The government had sent a third letter on Wednesday inviting the CPN-Maoist and “other political parties” for talks. The first two letters sent by the government had set conditions for talks.
