DHADING, Nov 29: The District Court Dhading handed has down 10 years of imprisonment to five men convicted for smuggling endangered Tibetan Antelope for its wool.
A single bench of Judge Ishwor Raj Ahikari pronounced them guilty.
The arrestees Pentu Lama aka Aape from Tibet, Lundup Lama and Wangada Lama from Chekampar-8 of Gorkha have been sentenced to 10 years in jail along with the fine of Rs 60,000.
Similarly, Purna Bahadur Gurung from Thumi-7 and Lilanath Silwal from Gajuri VDC-2 of Dhading have been sentenced to nine years and two months respectively. Silwal was also fined Rs 10,000.
The court gave a clean chit to Tampe Lama of Chekampar-7 in Gorkha the case. One the alleged smuggler is on the run.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police had recovered the wools of Tibetan Antelope wools from Silwal’s residence on Feburary 3, 2013 and had filed a case against him.
