Therefore, a large number of the students these days prefer to move to US for their further study.

Education institutions in the United States offer top-notch education programs with highly qualified teaching staff. The list of world-class learning institutions in the USA are endless but are not limited to Stanford University, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, California Institute of Technology, UC Berkeley, University of Pennsylvania, MIT, John Hopkins, Northwestern University, and so on.

Many professors at the institutions of USA are leading authorities in their fields. While most programs are structured very well, students also have the option to choose many other subjects as part of their course. Students have an opportunity to emphasize and narrow down topics of specific interest in their field of study.

“US education is a valuable and competitive resource in today’s global professional market and the experience of lifetime and skills the students receive are more than rewarding in the making of careers,” said B M Khadka, director of Edwise Foundation in Kathmandu.

The universities in the US offer exciting, rewarding and comprehensive array of subject options to international students. International students who choose to study in the US have almost unlimited subject choices. Furthermore, international students who successfully complete their studies in the US are highly sought-after.

“The flexibility in the hours the students choose to attend classes, a vast spectrum of academic programs, and accompanying schedules are what appeal students the most,” clarified Khadka.

Also, he said that a large number of US colleges and universities have developed affiliations with their local cooperation, ensuring the opportunity for students to have experience in the field they have chosen.

Besides providing vast spectrum of academic programs, and additional schedules, the universities in the US also offer financial support to international students in the form of scholarships and financial aid. While scholarships are based on academic merit, financial aid is based on the financial need of a student.

“Financial assistance is normally provided to international students because pursuing higher education in the U S is expensive,” said Shekhar Acharya, director of Dikshya International, an education consultancy based in Kathmandu.

He also explained that students awarded scholarship will receive stipends, or either partial or complete tuition waivers. US education could turn out to be completely free if the student exhibits exceptional skills in his or her field of study.

“Students can also receive grants, loans, and scholarships from various organizations,” added Acharya.

For information on colleges and universities, students can visit USEF, an educational advising center belonging to a network of educational advising centers affiliated to the U S Department of State, or the American Library located at Maharajgunj in the US Embassy premises.
