BHAIRAHAWA, Nov 9: In a bid to maintain security for the November 19 election, Nepal and India have struck a deal to seal the Nepal-India border.
Chiefs of Rupandehi and Nawalparasi districts and District Magistrate (DM) of Maharajgunj of India have agreed to seal the border areas on November 19 for poll security, said Bal Krishna Panthi, CDO of Rupandehi district. [break]
However, the time duration of sealing the border areas on the poll day will be fixed once the Ministry of Home Affairs decides to this effect, said Panthi.
The authorities held a comprehensive discussion as to holding upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) elections in free, fair and peaceful manner.
Meanwhile, Maharjgunj District Chief Saumya Agrawal said India is fully committed to assist Nepal to conduct its forthcoming CA polls in a peaceful manner.
The discussion dealt with the blockade of check points, control of cross-border crimes and management of cross-border security, said SP Bikram Singh Thapa, in-charge of Rupandehi District Police Office.
