Daily turnover increases to Rs 8.71 billion as NEPSE crawls up 1.86 points

KATHMANDU, Feb 12: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday increased marginally by 1.86 points to close at 2,685.73 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,683.86 points and jumped to the day’s high at 2,697.41 points in the first one hour. The market index slid around 10 points in the next one hour and remained almost stable till the last half an hour before the trading closed for the day. In the last five minutes, the market plunged to the day’s low at 2,680.33 points before it recovered around five points.

Out of the four gaining groups, the development bank index jumped the highest of 77.26 points, followed by life insurance, finance and investment. Of the nine losers, hotels and tourism shed the biggest of 42.72 points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 0.25 points. Daily turnover inclined to Rs 8.71 billion from Rs 7.24 billion on Tuesday.

Among the individual companies, 134 were gainers while 99 were registered as losers. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 396.02 million.

Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited by adding 9.99 percent in its market value, stood as the largest gainer. Two companies-- Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Super Madi Hydropower Limited-- were recorded as the topmost losers.
