KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday slid 0.93 points to close at 2,560.15 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,561.08 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,550.12 points in the first 46 minutes. In a dramatic comeback, the index recovered and surged to the day’s high at 2,563.93 points in the next around two hours. The market remained almost stable for the next half an hour, before it declined again by 10 points. The market bounced back seven points in the last seven minutes before it closed for the day.
Seven groups had their indices declined as non-life insurance went down by the largest of 35.27 points. Of the six gaining groups, hotels and tourism jumped 76.59 points, the highest of all.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 1.61 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 4.68 billion from Rs 3.77 billion.
Among the individual companies, 112 were gainers while 138 were recorded as losers. Sahas Urja Limited had the largest turnover of Rs 418.08 million.
Bungal Hydro Limited witnessed the highest fall of 9.05 percent of its market price. Three companies including Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Bandipur Cablecar and Tourism Limited and Jhapa Energy Limited were the topmost gainers of 10 percent.
