SURKHET, Sept 23: Former Finance Minister and CPN-UML Politburo member Surendra Pandey warned of emergency in the country due to fiscal reason if the current political uncertainty continued to exist.

Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Nepal here on Sunday, Pandey argued that the country may be pushed far behind due to economic reason rather than politics. [break]

“The ruling parties are bent on prolonging the current situation under various pretext,” he said, adding: “The emergency will not be far if the current government existed till Dashain and confrontation among parties increased further.”

Pandey argued that though the one-third budget will somehow be enough provide salary to civil servants for the next one month, the country will be in an unimaginable situation if the new budget is not brought in with consensus within next one month.

He also said that there is slim chance to bring new budget through ordinances as opposition parties are already miffed at the working style of the ruling parties.

He alleged that ruling parties were prolonging their stay in the name of holding CA election.
